Good to be Back

Good To Be Back
Now then
Got back from my little long weekend of debauchery in Lloret De Mar Monday and drove straight down to Minehead again. Had a great time in Spain. Done about 2/3 of the poker book in and have a million questions for the Bully when I get hold of him.
Found this little bar at the very end of the smaller of Llorets two beaches- BINGO –chill out heaven. Waves coming in about 20ft away, little bit of the old jazz in the back ground good whiskeys, fine beer and candles and dimmed lights all over this little oasis. Stayed at this place till about 3 bell in the morning the both times we went there.
Played some poker on Monday night and some on Tuesday as good as broke even over the two nights. Here is a few hands once again Nut Flush --- How can I get more out of these hands.

  1. How to get more out of hands like hand 1 should be self explanatory. First of all, you need to bet the flop- this is a semi bluff VS hands such as AQ as well as building the pot for the times you hit your nut flush. Then, on the turn WITH THE NUTS you MUST raise. You raise a) to make more on the turn b) to stop an 'action killer' coming on the river such as another spade that stops you getting more action and c) so that on the river the pot is much bigger allowing you to get exponentially more money than you otherwise would've done. Look, when we have the nuts on early streets with a high PSR, we want to be raising 95% of the time.

Hand 2: PF and flop is fine. On the turn, why are you betting? Value (what worse hands call you? not even any flush draws) bluff (what better hands fold?) protection (what cards are going to come on the river to make your hand the worst if it is currently the best- not many). So, rhetorical question really, there is no reason to bet. If we had checked the turn and he checked as well, then he bet 0.90 on the river and we called then we could have reached showdown for the same price as you betting, getting called, and then having to fold the river.

Oh and wait, on hand 2 you DONK BET the flop. Called a donk bet, because it's something donks do. Donk is an abbreviation for donkey, which is a term for a poor poker player. Until you get a very very thinking opponent relative to these stakes, there is VERY rarely reason to EVER donk bet. Here, it's not actually so bad as a bluff, but no pairs are ever folding so we're not folding out any worse hands which is the rule for when we want to bluff. So, just check fold the flop.........
